Do you need a new car dashboard mount or you don't have one and after your first? We have looked at and reviewed some of the best car phone dashboard and windscreen mounts to hopefully find something that is perfect.
We have tested and reviewed quite different mounts, some fit in your air vents, a couple sit on top of your dash and others can hang from your windscreen or connect to dash mounts via suction cups.
As well as where they sit at the front of your car, we have different ways they mount to these parts; we have the usual phone grip holders which surround your phone or small gps device and grab them and hold them in place. There are some we have never seen before which we absolutely love, the magnetic technology which are smaller than the rest and you can easily place your phone on to and even the sticky dashboard phone mounts where you can place a phone on its back to hold in place or even stand on its side between two feet.
There are some intuitive designs and different approaches to having your phone held in place whilst you drive along, we hope something we have reviewed works for you. As you may see, we've reviewed quite different mounts and mats to hold phones and other devices, these are all great products and hopefully we have shed some light on other options you have for your car.
Which is the best phone holder or dashboard mount for your car? Well, it's very close between the Yosh magnetic air filter holder and the Mpow windscreen suction mount, which you can use with the Rheme dash board mat if you would rather have it sitting on your dash or your dash is not that great with suction cups.
So why these two? The Yosh was just fantastic, although our phone was very heavy, it was still great, you can put the phone to the side of your wheel in an air filter, so isn't in the way and the little holder device takes up very little space at the front of your car. The problem with this was that it is limited to where your air filter is in your car. This is why we liked the Mpow bendy suction phone grip mount. You can literally place that anywhere, infront of the passenger seat, to the side of your steering wheel or bang in the middle too. It holds most normal sized phones and keeps the phone usable wherever you want it.
The Mpow grip 2 and the Ipow dashboard phone holder are two totally different phone mounts for your car but they're both still great phone holders. The downsides are that the Mpow isn't as versatile as the Mpow we rated number 2 but is a very sturdy suction mount. The Ipow is another new cool phone holding device, if you have a relatively flat dashboard, we would highly recommend it, you can place your phone in it horizontally, you can still charge your phone at the same time and it will look great and give you the view you need when navigating using your phone, nice and simple and you literally just have to place the mat on to your dash and you're ready to go.
The Ganvol and Rheme aren't really phone mounts, but rather mats to place either a suction phone holder like the Mpows or somewhere just to put a couple of small items you want at hand and dont mind having in view on your dash.
If you don't want to use your windscreen space to mount a phone, get the Rheme suction mount mat. Or if your dashboard struggles to hold suction cups, place the Rheme on top as it will stick in place and you can use your existing suction mounted phone holder in the middle.
If you just want something extra to place a passengers phone on or you would like to put some bobbles, food or something small and ready, the ganvol is the dashboard pad for you and your car.

Review of YOSH Rubber Magnetic Car Phone Holder
This is a review of the YOSH Rubber Magnetic Car Phone Holder
Made of silicone rubber the YOSH Phone Holder uses a strong quadra nickel plated magnet to hold you phone firmly to the air vent of your car. I absolutely love the design it is small, discreet, made of an environmentally friendly material, ease to fit with a well thought out construction.
To set it up requires you to push the clips on the back of the holder into the air vent until it clicks, make sure you have an air vent which will accept this shape or firmly locks into place. Then it is just a case of attaching a small metal plate that comes inside the pack to the back of your phone using a sticky tab that is also provided.
Once attached your ready to put your phone to the holder by gently putting it near it and it should attract to the magnet. The magnet is brilliantly strong. What you do need to do though is give it a good clean so there is no residual grime, debris or grease on the back that could prevent the magnet from working or the phone slipping off.
If you use a phone case to protect your phone, if it is thin enough you can use the magnet on the inside (between your phone and the case) and this should work to attach to the YOSH phone holder, if the phone case is too thick you will need to remove it altogether and just attach the magnet to the actual phone.
The magnet allows for various devices to be attached as well as phones, such as small tablets and small GPS systems. You can also have your phone in either a horizontal or vertical position as long as the phone magnet and YOSH phone holder is central. It also travels well, once attached its not going anywhere, you may get the occasional wobble from it going over bumpy roads but that is to be expected with most car gadgets and given the state of our roads in the UK, they could be a lot better.
There are limitations to the YOSH phone holder, it only fits to certain vent sizes and shapes, it specifically will not fit a small circular vent in your car. Also if you use wireless charging you will be unable to do this while you have the magnet attached to the phone, so you will need to remove this before doing so. Apart from these small minor details this is great product at a great value with first rate delivery, as you can get it on Amazon Prime UK.
- Lifetime warranty
- Very strong magnet
- Compatible with most phones and car air vents
- Available Next Day Delivery with Amazon Prime
- Heat resistant
- Cheap to buy
- Does not take up a lot of space
- You will need to remove any plastic phone case you have added to your phone
- Your phone needs to be free of grease or debris
- Wobbles a bit on bumpy roads
- Does not work with some types of vents such as small circular vents
- May interfere with wireless charging
The YOSH phone holder is powerfully strong, holds your phone while only taking minimal car space and comes in a fun, small, discreet and great value for money package. If you don't want a phone on your windscreen and in the way, this is a perfect place to put it and it connects in an amazingly simple way.
Review of Mpow Windscreen Car Phone Holder
This is a review of the Mpow Windscreen Car Phone Holder
The Mpow Windscreen Car Phone Holder comes in several pieces that need putting together.
Once all parts are joined up correctly, you have the option to use on the window with the suction cup or on the dash with the sticky adhesives. Think carefully before you try to attach the suction cup to the window the windscreen needs to be clean and hold it up in a number of positions before you lock it down.
Personally I did not feel it provided the tightest of grips on my phone therefore you need to be careful you have locked it otherwise the clips to the side of the phone may start to press buttons on the side such as the volume. The ability for it to swivel 360 degrees is a great feature as long as it is holding your phone tightly.
The unique feature in terms of phone holders with this product is the goose like flexible arm that attaches the suction pad to the phone holder itself. I am not decided on whether I like this or not. It is very handy for moving its position to the perfect eye level yet not in a position that blocks your view. However unless you have the option to lock the arm down to the dash with the stability clip provided you are going to experience quite a bit of wobble from it and more so the heavier your phone is.
- Uses a flexible neck design for perfect placement
- Works with most phone sizes
- Has 360 degrees rotation
- Ensures no scratches or marks to the window or dash
- Next day delivery with Amazon Prime
- Being attached to the window does block the view slightly
- Not the strongest grip to the phone
- Slight wobble due to the flexible neck
A great little car gadget although it looks a little wobbly can generally hold your phone well and be positioned at eye level.
Review of Wuteku Dashboard Magnetic Phone Mount Kit
This is a review of the Wuteku Dashboard Magnetic Phone Mount Kit
The Wuteku Dashboard Magnetic Phone holder uses neodymium magnets to secure your phone in place. At 27mm wide and 31mm high it is a very small piece of car tech. For it size however it is surprisingly a little heavy, this is down to the components used and stainless steel swivel ball used, which I actually like as a design feature allowing you to rotate your phone 270 degrees.
Before applying the Wuteku to the dash or window you will need to make sure it is clean and free of grime, grease and dirt. The phone holder comes with 3M adhesive stickers, one large and one small. There is also the option to purchase further stickers by the manufacturer. Initially I thought this was a good thing there was the option to purchase extras without thinking why this is avaliable. Personally I don't feel the adhesive is as strong as it could be, after a few goes with my smart phone (CAT S60) it started to pull away. I don't feel the adhesives provided are strong enough for such a car fixture and to be able to trust it to hold your phone with.
The small ultra thin magnetic discs allow you to either attach to the back of your phone or on the inside of your case providing the case is either thin or magnetic.
- Strong and sturdy
- 90 day full money back guarantee
- Holds most smart phones
- Easy to attach
- Next Day Delivery with Amazon Prime
- Small and discreet
- Option to purchase further sticky tabs
- A little heavy
- There are cheaper phone holders on the market
- Not the most appropriate strength adhesive for its weight, a flatter surface on your dashboard helps with keeping it in place
It isn't the cheapest phone holder on the market but it is small, discreet and fun design is great for the occasional car user. However the heavy set up for it sizes doesn't quite match the adhesives it comes with, so if you don't have a flat dashboard, you may struggle keeping it in place, if you do have flattish dashboard, you might just love this little product.
Review of Mpow Grip Pro 2 Dashboard Car Phone Holder
This is a review of Mpow Grip Pro 2 Dashboard Car Phone Holder
The Grip Pro 2 arrives in a box dismantled into a number of pieces that you will need to put together to make the product shown below.
Mpow say that the Grip Pro 2 dashboard car phone holder has to go through 5 scrutinising tests at the design stage:
- Dropping test
- High and low temperature test
- Loading test
- Pulling test
- Vibration test
After trying out this phone holder I can easily believe on the whole it successfully passes these tests. Although you do need to have cleaned your dash and found a perfectly flat spot to put it on once you have done that there are three elements to how it secures itself to your dash.
1. There is a very sticky gel pad on the base of the suction cup
2. The suction cup itself is what you would find most small items that stick to glass or just hard surfaces would use.
3. There then is the ability to lock it firmly down onto the surface using an easy locking system. There is the option for even stronger suction for a textured surface.
With the 3 levels of securing the holder to your car dash I have to say I do have quite a heavy phone (a CAT S60). At first the holder managed well for the first few days however the weight of the phone (at 223 grams) seemed to be a little to heavy for it and actually pulled it off. I tried it again to make sure it wasn't that I had not cleaned the dashboard well enough and again after a couple of days it pulled it off. It probably doesn't help that our dash is not that flat, so if youres is, it may hold much heavier phones. This is quite a heavy phone and I would say with most phones that generally weight around or less than 150 grams there would be no problem. As the image shows below the Grip Pro 2 is perfectly designed to suit most smart phones that range from 4-6 inches in length.
With the added ability to swivel the phone to either a portrait or horizontal position and and extra security feature at the bottom for phone stability or access to your phone charging port, you do feel as though the manufacturer has tried to think of everything.
- The suction pad is super sticky
- Easy to lock down and easy to remove
- Has a 360 degrees rotation ball to allow your phone to be at landscape or portrait view
- Next day delivery with Amazon Prime UK
- Mpow provides lifetime warranty
- Foldable holding feet for stability and ease of phone charging
- Requires a clean flat surface
- There are lots of pieces to put together at first
- Won't hold heavier phones too well, our CAT S60 is very heavy and after a few days it comes unstuck
A well designed car phone holder and charging station, for most phone shapes and sizes just not the heaviest on the market.
Review of Ipow Silicone Pad Non Slip Dash Mat
This is a review of the Ipow silicone non-slip dash mat
The package includes one silicone pad and 2 pairs of phone holder parts for 2 different sizes. It is easy to put together the phone holder clamps go into the end holds and then it is pushed to the correct level for your phone.
This device is specifically designed for your phone in mind. My phone managed to sit firmly in place both horizontally and vertically.
Personally I found putting the phone horizontally worked best, it seemed more secure, it gave you a better view over the top of your phone to the windscreen and you can access the phone charger port on your phone easier when in the horizontal position as when it is vertical there is not a lot of clearance between the phone charger and the base of the holder.
I guess this would depend on the type of phone you have and where the phone charger port is which is great you have the option of both horizontal and vertical positioning. With two different size phone holder options as seen below this helps to provide a stable environment for most phones.
The Ipow dash mat and holder seems to have had a number of updates to get to this point, the last update being the internal metal sheets now make the slideaway and hook tighter, I have not used the predecessor of the product but it does hold your phone tightly and even when the car comes to a sudden stop.
You do need to find a flat and clean surface of your dash to attach the silicone pad too otherwise it will not stay properly. I would also say that you would need to make sure you had then locked your phone once you put it into the holder as the actual clamps of the holder could accidentally turn something on.
- Your phone can be places vertically or horizontally
- Support cradle can be adjusted to fit your phone specifically
- No glue or magnets needed
- Your phone is locked into place, will not fly out at a sudden emergency stop
- Easy to put together
- Next day delivery with Amazon Prime
- Great phone storage solution
- Only works on flat surfaces, not curves of the dash board
- Difficult to attach a charging cable to the phone while the phone is in vertical position
Designed for your phone whatever its size and whether your driving style. This is a great addition to your car, just make sure your car dash is clean before use.
Review of Ganvol Anti-Slip Car Dash Sticky Mat
This is a review of the Ganvol Anti-Slip Car Dash Sticky Mat.
I have to say I have quite a heavy phone (a CAT S60) and my phone really showed how strong this well made but cheap to buy little pad is. The first things you notice is that it is strong and it is sticky! I have also tried it with keys, sunglasses and it works a treat.
To stick the pad down you just need to peel the plastic of the back and press down. What I would say is make sure you know where to put it before you stick it down as it is a little tricky to remove. The pad is made of a material that can actually be cut and trimmed to fit unusual shape spaces or just to make it a little smaller.
It comes as a twin pack so you also use both pads to carry more items at once or keep one as a spare. I have particularly found it useful for holding my phone for GPS, for when you want to find somewhere quickly and put your phone on to Google Maps, stick the phone on the pad and off you go.
The phone will stick to the pad really well, it isn't just an anti-slip mat, it works by being anti slip and sticky with little nodules on it all at the same time. So remember to just place your phone down gently and that will more than suffice in keeping it where you want it.
One great feature to this pad is that it is easily washable! With its sticky ability it can attract dirt and debris so being able to clean, wash and off we go again is wonderful.
- Strong adhesive
- Works on either a plastic or leather dashboard
- Can be washed when it gets dirty
- Does not leave any residue on your dashboard
- The pad can be cut or trimmed to fit certain spaces
- Next day delivery with Amazon Prime
- Heat and cold resistant
- Difficult to remove your phone from the pad
- Attracts dirt and debris
This is a very sticky pad that is cheap, washable and strong enough to hold your favourite and necessary in car gadgets.
Review of Rheme Dash Board Phone Holder Mat
This is a review of the Rheme Dash Board Phone Holder Mat
If you want a dashboard suction mount to fit your phone or gps from your dashboard, then this mat will be perfect for you. Instead of placing your suction phone holder on your windscreen and taking up window space and you have a large dash, we recommend you try this.
- Easy to remove and reapply
- Strong suction
- Also can hold GPS systems
- Requires no adhesive
- Requires flat, clean surface
- Still needs you to buy the phone holder to go onto the mat
