Best Car Key Signal Blocker Box & Pouches

Best Car Key Signal Blocker Box & Pouches
Are you looking to protect one of the most expensive things you own? Your van, motorhome or car? There is no point in locking your car if it can be unlocked without the need for your key. You should be looking into faraday car key pouches that protect your keyless car keys from being used to get into your car.

In this article, we compare the best car key signal-blocking pouches and faraday boxes. Looking to block RFIDNFC, as well as WIFI signals, all of the security devices below, act as mini faraday pouches that will keep your mind at ease.

We have a couple of these now and use them day in and day out, it’s no extra work and we know our car isn’t going to get nabbed from us when we least expect it and because of a technological loophole. If you are after “physical” protection, you might want to also check our review of portable car key safes here, but these would not have the “Faraday” feature.

What Is A Faraday Pouch

From Wikipedia: “A Faraday cage or Faraday shield is an enclosure used to block electromagnetic fields. A Faraday shield may be formed by a continuous covering of conductive material or in the case of a Faraday cage, by a mesh of such materials. Faraday cages are named after the English scientist Michael Faraday, who invented them in 1836.”

Because your keyless keyfob uses electrical signals to open your car, start the engine, this means that it can also be controlled or used in a way that is detrimental to you.

So placing your keyfob for your car into a faraday signal blocking pouch should give you added protection.

How To Use A Signal Blocking Pouch

All you need to do is keep your key inside its pouch when you are not in your car, it’s that simple. Just make sure the pouch is closed and sealed when on you, in your pocket or in your home. That way, if the key is still near to your vehicle, it can’t be used against you when you aren’t keeping an eye on the key or your car.

We have ranked the New horizon and Lampard signal-blocking pouches as the best car key faraday signal-blocking pouches to improve security when in and around your car but all listed below are worth looking at as they might individually suit your needs better.

If you are looking for a cheap car key signal blocker for your keyless car fob, the New Horizon is the option for you. It is a simple-looking yet practical keyfob security pouch.

The Monojoy car signal blocker in the faux leather encasing is ranked third. Another simple looking faraday pouch for your keyless keyfob. It will block all wireless signals and protect your car and key as you enter and leave your car alone when the keyfob is in your pocket.

The POWR car signal pouch is as simple as they come. Big enough for your phone or your keyless car’s keyfob, this security pouch will do just as good job as any other we have reviewed. You can also find this one in many different colours.

Finally there is Ironstripe – a solid box that you will not carry around but will have at home. Ironstripe is our favourite box/car signal security device.

The Lanpard Signal Blocking pouch is a beautiful looking signal blocker. It is unique in design and is water and wear-resistant.

This case for your car fob or phone also doesn’t look as if that is what it is inside, which also helps deter thieves from discovering the pouch. It is extremely well crafted and includes a small D ring for the pouch to be attached to your bag, or somewhere to prevent it from being snatched off you or to attach a handle to.

To the inside of the pouch is an RFID blocking sleeve that is the section that is the signal blocker, preventing car fob signal, WIFI, 4G and NFC. It will easily fit any car fob or mobile phone, there is some give to the fabric. Then this will easily fit in your bag and you could potentially squeeze it into a pocket.

What we really like about this company is that they have a couple of versions of the faraday signal-blocking pouches.

The smaller pouch can only fit in an electronic keyless car fob key, but that is all you need for this security feature. Just like the larger wallet-sized version, it protects you from different wireless insecurities.

If you want a smaller option with all the security features, this should be your choice.

Pros

  • Beautiful design
  • Hardwearing
  • Next day delivery with Amazon Prime
  • Wear and water-resistant
  • Suitable for car fobs or phones

Cons

  • The manufacturer says it is waterproof – we would say well water-resistant

Verdict

This is a beautiful signal blocker case, quite unique and keeps your private data and belongings safe. All versions look really good and do exactly what you want of them, protect you from getting your car stolen.

The flap that goes over the seal of the pouch is also a good size that helps to keep it firmly sealed even with a smartphone inside. It comes as a pack of two which allows you to keep both your main car fob and spare car key fob protected. The stitching is strong and the durable material means it can withstand being in a handbag of a busy active person or family household.

  • Discourages phone use when not appropriate to use

Review of Ironstripe Car Key Signal blocking case

q? encoding=UTF8&ASIN=B07W48SWLK&Format= SL250 &ID=AsinImage&MarketPlace=GB&ServiceVersion=20070822&WS=1&tag=thecarstuff00 21&language=en GBir?t=thecarstuff00 21&language=en GB&l=li3&o=2&a=B07W48SWLK

This is a review of the Ironstripe car Key Protection Blocking Case which is, contrary to the previous pouches, not designed to be carried around but would most likely sit in your home.

The Alpha Shield Signal blocking case is a hard box padded with a double layer of signal blocking shielding material. Although it is not convenient enough to just fit in your pocket it is small making it easy to stow in a specific “key” cupboard or in your glove box.

Shaped a little like a small box (19.5 x 12.7 x 9.8 centimetres) it’s easy to clean and makes it robust against dropping. As an actual sealed case, this should block the signal completely when the box is shut. It does recommend waiting at least 30 seconds before expecting the box to work.

The box is surprisingly large inside – it can easily fit 5 sets of our keys.

Pros

  • Hard case + additional soft pouch
  • It looks great
  • Enough space for multiple keys
  • Easy to clean
  • Next day delivery with Amazon Prime

Cons

  • Won’t fit in your pocket
  • The clasp might be hard to open at first but gets more smooth with use

Verdict

The Ironstripe shield box is a stylish-looking yet effective solution to storing your car keys (or even phones) safely. It is not intended to b carried around but sat neatly in your home.
