Ford Egde L set to debut in China

After it was seen masked last year, Ford has finally unveiled its new SUV “FORD EDGE L” that aims to wow Chinese customers with 27″ (!) cabin display or a unique design.

It is a direct replacement of the “Edge Plus” model, and with its generous size, it has become one of the largest SUVs in its class on the Chinese market – 5000mm long, 1961mm wide and 1773 height rolling on 21” wheels is a decent chunk of car.

The new arrival comes with a new Ford design, offering a horizontal LED strip at the front, a massive grille, or “ejecting” exterior door handles. The word EDGE dominates the rear end of the car, and the overall shape is quite unique, as the silhouette arches down towards the back.

While the dashboard is not the most aesthetically pleasing, one of the biggest attractions will definitely be the giant set of screens, which consists of a 12.3-inch instrument display combined with a massive, twenty-seven-inch infotainment screen. The Edge L also offers ambient lighting, a Bang & Olufsen audio system, or a head-up display. There is also a panoramic sunroof and a number of usual driving assistants.

The Ford Edge L comes in two different seating arrangements, with lower-spec models accommodating up to eight passengers, whereas the more deluxe versions can seat up to seven individuals.

This is due to the fact that the higher-spec models’ middle row includes power-operated captain chairs with separate center storage bins and dual wireless chargers.

Edge L will offer customers a turbocharged two-litre gasoline engine with 249 HP and 378 Nm of torque. Ford will also offer the seven-seater as a hybrid with 271 horsepower. All-wheel drive is standard, while Ford claims fuel economy as low as 6.31L/100km. Both models will come with an automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. The gasoline version of the car is expected to hit the Chinese market at the end of April, and the hybrid should arrive in July. The car could officially be revealed at the Shanghai motor show in April
