The 2017 Ford Flex is a super – spacious car with seating for seven. The seats are arranged in a three row system. Hence, it may be a called a wagon or an SUV or a minivan for the commodious configuration it beholds. The car is best suited for large families that desire decent fuel economy and apt luxury.

2017 Ford Flex Engine

The 2017 Ford Flex SUV is powered by a 3.5 liter Ti-VCT V6 engine with six speed automatic transmission. This comes paired with front wheel drive and the all wheel drive system comes optional. This produces a power of 287 hp and a torque of 254 pound feet. It is speculated to deliver a fuel efficiency of 16 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on highways with front wheel drive and a fuel efficiency of 16 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on highways with all wheel drive. The optional engine is 3.5 liter EcoBoost V6 engine with all wheel drive. This produces a power of 365 hp and a torque of 350 pound feet. This engine type delivers a fuel efficiency of 16 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on highways. The 2017 Ford Flex will be available in 3 models: SE, SEL and Limited.

The 2017 Ford Flex SUV is large enough to accommodate seven passengers with ease, with the overall length being 201.8 inches, height being 68 inches and width being 75.9 inches. The boxy car features halogen lamps with auto – on feature and wiper activation. The front windshield wipers are speed – sensitive. The Flex badge is beautifully stationed on the leading edge of hood. There are power heated mirrors that have manual folding system with integrated blind spot mirrors. There are 17 to 20 inch aluminium wheels.

2017 Ford Flex Interiors

The boxy appearance of the car allows for expanded cabin space. There is ample headroom and legroom for all the three rows. The cloth seats come standard along with six way power driver’s seat and four way manual front passenger seat. The higher trim have leatherette interiors with perforated inserts on the seats. The second and third row seats are foldable which leads to enormous cargo space. There are storage pouches and door bins for every row of seats. There are beverage holders for the front and rear seats. There is illuminated entry, keyless entry and ignition, auto – dimming rearview mirror, dual zone electronic automatic temperature control and telescoping steering wheel. The infotainment system comprises of SYNC smartphone integration system, Bluetooth, USB port, Satellite Radio and two premium audio systems. The Limited model of 2017 Flex has SYNC 3 infotainment system. However, 2017 Ford Flex doesn’t offer Apple CarPlay or Android Auto connectivity.

2017 Ford Flex Safety Features

The Anti-Lock Brake System, Traction Control, Cruise Control, Electronic Stability Control, Rear view camera, Child Safety Rear Door Locks, Safety Cage Construction System, Passive Anti – theft System and Tire Pressure Monitoring System comes standard. There is optional Inflatable Second Row Safety Belts for the base model Flex SE. Other driver assistive features include Blind Spot Monitoring System, Lane Keeping Assist, Brake Assist and Lane Departure Warning System.

2017 Ford Flex SUV Crash Test Rating – Safety Score?
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has awarded a ‘Good’ rating to the 2017 Ford Flex in most of its crash tests except for a ‘Acceptable’ rating in Small Overlap Front Test Results.
