The 2017 Toyota Tacoma is the best-selling model of the Japanese automobile manufacturer Toyota. It is the third generation Tacoma from the company. The safety aspect of the car has really been worked upon in the 2017 model. The 2017 Toyota Tacoma comes with the driver and front passenger Advanced Airbag System; driver and front passenger Seat – Mounted Side Airbags (which protects the passenger’s torso during a side impact collision); driver and front passenger Knee Airbags (which protects the occupant’s lower extremities during a collision); rear and front Roll – Sensing Side Curtain Airbags and Overhead Airbags (which are designed to protect the passenger’s head during a side impact collision or a rollover).

Along with this, there is a 3 – point seat belt for individual seats with Emergency Locking Retractor on the driver side and Automatic/Emergency Locking Retractor on all other passengers’ seatbelts. Child – protector rear door locks are also not missed.

It comes with a Blind – Spot Manager which is a warning when the driver initiates a lane change and another vehicle is already there or approaching rapidly. This may be in the form of visual or audio indicator.

Another technology that mounts to its safety measure is Rear Cross – Traffic Alert which indicates the driver if traffic is approaching from the side (perpendicularly) when the car is moving forward to backward to come out of a space for example parking. Tire Pressure Monitoring System included in the car alerts the driver about insufficient tire pressure well on time.

Safety score

According to the U.S. News and World Report, the 2017 Toyota Tacoma received a safety score of 8.9/10. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration rated it overall four – star, with a five – star rating for side crash test and four – stars for rollover. It thus

The 2017 model offers two configurations for the engine. The standard configuration includes 2.7-liter four-cylinder making 180 lb-ft of torque and it is paired with a five-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. The optional configuration has a 3.5 liter V6 motor making 265 lb-ft of torque paired with a six-speed manual or automatic transmission. The V6 engine makes the Tacoma capable of towing up to 6,800 pounds when properly equipped. The standard MPG is 19 in the city and 23 on highways.

Toyota has worked immensely on the interior and exterior designing of the car as well. The handle-bar theme has been applied to make the interiors of 2017 Tacoma more luxurious and comfortable. A larger touchscreen display has also been added. Also, Acoustic windshield and better-insulated doors have considerably reduced the road and wind noise as compared to the previous generations of Tacoma. Dual climate control has been introduced for the first time in the 2017 Toyota Tacoma. Multi-Terrain Select System helps the driver to set the modes for mud, sand, slick rock and more, changing the throttle and braking. The car is priced at $25,800.
